Dr. Charlie Chen

2. Charlie Chen - Picture (1).jpg

Dr. Charlie Chen is a physician dual-trained in General Surgery and Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. He grew up in the Los Angeles area and attended college at University of California, Los Angeles. After obtaining his medical degree at Loyola University Chicago, he completed a full general surgery training at Yale University and plastic surgery fellowship at University of California, San Diego. He now actively practices in New York City.

Dr. Chen has previously worked in the Veterans Affairs hospital system, where he saw first-hand the psychological conditions associated with injured veterans. In addition to physical disabilities that require reconstruction, many veterans require services related to mental and neurological issues that compound the difficulties in their road back to recovery. Dr. Chen understands that both physical and mental injuries must both be treated to heal the person as a whole. He hopes organizations such as VALORS Mission can complement efforts to provide veterans the appropriate care they need and deserve.

Outside of his practice, Dr. Chen is an active member of the humanitarian medical community, serving on volunteer missions to regions such Himalayas, Guatemala, and India. He has provided basic healthcare needs and congenital disorder treatments to underserved communities in those regions. He continues to be part of numerous non-profit healthcare groups domestically and internationally. At home, he is a dedicated husband and father to two daughters.

ABOUT

The 10 founders of VALORS Mission formed this organization because we know first hand the struggles disabled veterans, particularly 100% disabled veterans, face each and every day. We're on a mission to help those veterans.
